At BFA Global, our mission is to leverage innovation in finance, technology and data to create solutions for a more just, inclusive and equitable world. The work we do every day is to improve the lives of the world’s most vulnerable, underserved and oppressed – a number which is only growing as a result of the current health and economic crisis. What we learn consistently reinforces the need for governments, NGOs and development organizations, the private sector and all citizens to take action in support of these communities.

These days we are reminded that this work is as urgent as it has ever been – as protests and demonstrations in the United States and across the world continue, sparked by the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and so many others before them in the US, Europe and globally; by the deaths and suffering of James Mureithi and others in Kenya at the hands of police, deaths which have escalated since the start of curfew; by the deaths of Uwa, Tina Ezekwe, Jennifer and countless victims of gender and police violence in Nigeria; by the death and violence experienced by migrant populations, Muslims and Dalit populations in India; and too many others.

Poor, migrant, and marginalized communities are also those most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their death tolls continue to rise due to the virus, as a result of larger systemic injustice inherent in economies across the world.

It is clear that now is the time for action.

We condemn police brutality, discrimination and gender violence in all of its forms, and stand in solidarity with Black and marginalized communities globally who are fighting against racism, classism, and injustices every day.

As we continue to strive harder than ever toward equality through our own work, we ask our entire network, our partners and stakeholders, to join us in doubling down on our efforts to bring an end to these inequalities and inequities, and to work harder than ever to increase economic and social justice, racial equity, diversity and inclusion.
