ClimaFii Alliance announces second cohort deploying productive-use energy and electric mobility solutions for microenterprises in Africa
The ClimaFii Alliance is proud to announce its second cohort of 20 companies developing climate technologies tailored to the needs of microentrepreneurs across Africa. These ventures are delivering practical, scalable solutions across ClimaFii’s core focus areas: sustainable cooling and cold chain, renewable energy-powered agri-processing and other agri-energy solutions, distributed renewable energy, asset finance for energy and electric mobility, clean cooking, electric mobility fleets and OEMs, and interoperable battery swapping for EVs. Their solutions are focused on enabling income-generating activities: helping microenterprises lower costs, improve productivity, and increase earnings while reducing emissions.
Supported by Shell Foundation and FCDO and implemented in Africa by BFA Global and Accion, the ClimaFii Alliance works with early-stage companies that are building and deploying productive-use energy and mobility solutions. The program is designed to help these businesses overcome the commercial and financing barriers that often limit scale in underserved markets.
Over the coming months, cohort companies will receive catalytic capital, tailored venture-building support, connections to financing partners, product design and go-to-market guidance to help make climate solutions more accessible and affordable for microentrepreneurs.
As climate pressures increase volatility for small businesses across sub-Saharan Africa, the need for practical, scalable solutions is growing. This cohort reflects a shift toward climate technologies that deliver immediate economic value to end users, demonstrating that increasing incomes and reducing emissions can go hand in hand.
