Catalyzing growth-ready TECA Alumni ventures with follow-on funding

Flexible capital and tailored support to help high-performing TECA alumni scale climate adaptation solutions across Africa.

Bridging the missing middle

Early-stage climate ventures often face what investors call the “missing middle” or the “valley of death”: the critical transition from validating a solution to building a commercially viable business. Similar funding and capability gaps appear throughout a company’s growth journey as it moves from one milestone to the next, including later stages such as Series A and beyond.

At TECA, we focus on the earliest part of this continuum, supporting early-stage ventures that have moved beyond the idea stage and are beginning to validate their solutions in the market. Although these founders often demonstrate strong potential and early traction, they remain too early for most traditional commercial investors. Without the right combination of hands-on venture support and catalytic capital, many promising climate businesses struggle to bridge the gap to sustainable growth.

To help bridge this gap, BFA Global and FSD Africa launched TECA Amplify, a follow-on initiative for high-performing TECA alumni. Amplify provides flexible catalytic capital alongside tailored venture-building support to help founders strengthen their business fundamentals, achieve critical growth milestones, become more investment-ready, and scale climate adaptation solutions that can build resilience across the continent.
