TECA Mexico is an incubator program by BFA Global in partnership with New Ventures, dedicated to empowering enterprises, cooperatives, and organizations to create positive social and environmental impacts in coastal marine ecosystems, with a focus on Baja California Sur.

 


 

Who is TECA Mexico for?

New ventures or ideas

 Individuals and teams with entrepreneurial ideas aimed at creating a positive social and environmental impact, contributing directly or indirectly to coastal marine ecosystems.

Early-stage businesses

Recently established businesses that generate a positive social and environmental impact, contribute directly or indirectly to coastal marine ecosystems, and are looking to strengthen their venture through training and strategic partnerships.

NGOs or cooperatives with business opportunities

Existing organizations or cooperatives with extensive knowledge of the socio-environmental situation in their area of influence seeking to activate or strengthen a solid business line to generate their own resources and move toward economic independence.

Group classes and immersions in user experience, problem definition, solution definition, data, among others

Personalized mentorship in business topics

Pitch-style presentation event in front of investors

Seed capital of $20,000 USD for the top 10 participants

Access to the Teca Huddle and intensive training in La Paz, Baja California Sur, from November 7 to 10, 2024

 

Access tickets for the top 10 participants to the Latin American Impact Investment Forum (FLII), held in Mérida, Yucatán, with costs covered

What is our focus? Turquoise economy

The Turquoise economy encompasses activities that generate livelihoods and ecosystem services from both freshwater and saltwater bodies. Currently, the areas of opportunity include:

  • Sustainable and Regenerative Fishing
  • Ecotourism
  • Rehabilitation and Conservation of Natural Resources (such as coral reefs and mangroves)
  • Blue Carbon Credits

After 48 hours of intense work in Mexico, we developed six innovative business ideas, each designed to directly respond to challenges related to climate change, such as coral conservation, responsible water use and reuse, and sargassum reduction.
