Director, TECA

Tyler is the Director, TECA at BFA Global, where he leads the design, fundraising, and execution of climate venture-building programs across Africa, Latin America, and South Asia. He oversees the launch of early-stage, tech-enabled startups tackling climate resilience, biodiversity, and carbon challenges, and has pioneered TECA’s “waves” of venture support, including initiatives in Nigeria, Mexico, and the Bay of Bengal. Tyler also drives investor engagement, ecosystem partnerships, and program strategy, working closely with public, private, and philanthropic partners to catalyze innovation for climate adaptation.

Before joining BFA Global, he was a Senior Associate at the World Resources Institute in Berlin, where he spearheaded the development of global climate risk tools, developed a pioneering series of papers on transformative adaptation, and co-authored blueprints for climate-informed digital advisory services under the Global Commission on Adaptation; he also supported national governments in mainstreaming transformative adaptation strategies across Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Earlier in his career, Tyler held research and program roles at King’s College London, the Block Island Maritime Institute, and CIAM Panama. His expertise includes climate venture building and startup acceleration; adaptation, biodiversity, and carbon (ABC) impact strategies; climate finance and carbon markets; agricultural resilience and food systems transformation; and stakeholder engagement and ecosystem building. He holds an MSc in Climate Change: Science, Policy and Environment from King’s College London and BA & BSc degrees in Environmental Science from McGill University.
