Four billion people worldwide are vulnerable to the impacts of climate change and urgently need solutions to prepare, adapt and build resilience. Without solutions, 130 million people may fall back into poverty due to climate change impacts, erasing decades of hard-earning development gains. Resilience solutions are quickly becoming a basic demand for populations who are most exposed. However, existing tools designed to help them understand and prepare for climate risks, and to bounce back from climate shocks, aren’t as effective as they need to be due to cost and access barriers. We believe that private sector innovation in digital services is key to unlocking affordable access to these solutions.
