Prateek Shrivastava

Managing Director

Prateek is the Managing Director at BFA Global, where he leads the organization’s strategy and partnerships to advance climate resilience, financial health, and venture building. With over 30 years of experience across 40 countries, he brings together technology, capital, and institutions to build inclusive solutions that benefit low-income and vulnerable communities.

Most recently, he served as Vice President of Digital at Accion, where he led the Mastercard–Accion Partnership, reaching more than 30 million people worldwide, and helped design the $152.5 million Accion Digital Transformation Fund. Before this, Prateek was Managing Director of Monitise Emerging Markets, pioneering shared mobile payments infrastructure across Africa and Asia, and co-founded BeyondBranches in Nigeria, which became Interswitch Financial Inclusion Services. In 2023, he co-founded EMpact, a venture studio for inclusive innovation in Guatemala and Côte d’Ivoire, and launched soilnet.ai, an IoT- and AI-driven experiment for agriculture.

His areas of expertise include digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cyber-resilience, organizational change management, inclusive finance, venture building, and capital mobilization, with a career spanning fintech, agriculture, and climate resilience. He holds an MBA with distinction in Microfinance & Mobile Banking from Henley Business School in the UK, an MSc in Computer Science, and a BSc in Applied Computing from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. He has also completed executive education at Harvard Business School and holds a blended certificate in Digital Transformation (AI and Platforms) from MIT. Prateek serves on the Board of Annapurna Finance in India.

Amolo Ng’weno

Chair

Amolo is Chair of BFA Global. She is based in Nairobi but runs the company worldwide. Her recent areas of interest include the changing nature of work in developing countries with the growth of the digital economy; harnessing technology to provide micro-entrepreneurs with the financial and technical tools for growth; and how data analysis techniques can improve regulators’ interactions with customers, including for resolving disputes. Formerly, she was the Managing Director of Digital Divide Data Kenya, a social enterprise that provides data and research services to companies and governments, while hiring young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and supporting their higher education.

Prior to that, Amolo held a position as Deputy Director in the Financial Services for the Poor team at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. In that role, she worked to improve scale, range and impact of financial services available to the poor in developing countries. Prior to her work at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Amolo worked in Kenya, her native country, where she was the COO of the Trust for African Rock Art. She also co-founded Africa Online, East Africa’s first internet provider, which operated in eight countries before sale to Telkom South Africa. Amolo holds a BA in Psychology and Social Relations from Harvard University and a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) from Princeton University.
