Dave Okech is the founder and CEO of AquaRech, an agtech social enterprise focused on ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth of the aquaculture industry through mobile applications and climate-smart technologies. He is passionate about encouraging smallholder fish farmers to profitably produce food while keeping it accessible and affordable to millions of people, and believes that by doing so, Africa can achieve food and nutrition security in inclusive and sustainable ways.

A serial entrepreneur with an educational background in actuarial science, and 5 years of experience as an aquapreneur. In 2018, he launched his flagship aquaculture innovation, “AquaRech App”, a mobile application that has enhanced production for fish farmers by 60 percent and allowed women and young people to access fish markets without resorting to the practice of jaboya, also known as “sex for fish.” Dave is a participant in Obama Foundation Leaders Africa 2021. He is also a Global Farmer Network Fellow 2020, Acumen Fellow 2019, African Food Systems Fellow 2021, and Mandela Washington Fellow 2016.
