About the Role
The Project Finance Manager will oversee the financial planning and analysis of consulting engagements and projects at BFA Global. This role will focus on budgeting, monitoring, and ensuring profitability while managing the necessary operational and financial resources for success. The position reports directly to the Finance Director at BFA Global.
What You’ll Do
1. Project Financial Management
- Develop and manage engagements and project budgets in collaboration with consultants to ensure commercial viability.
- Monitor and analyze project financial performance, providing actionable insights to enhance profitability.
- Conduct financial modeling to support project planning and resource allocation decisions.
- Oversee the contracting process for subcontractors, vendors, and clients to align with financial goals and compliance requirements.
2. Financial Planning and Analysis
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for consulting projects.
- Provide in-depth financial analysis and reporting on project performance, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Refine financial processes to ensure alignment with organizational goals and financial sustainability.
3. Resource Planning and Allocation
- Manage resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and budgets, to ensure projects are adequately supported.
- Work with project teams to optimize resource utilization and ensure alignment with financial objectives.
- Develop strategies to address potential risks and challenges in resource planning.
4. Quality Assurance and Risk Management
- Ensure that the financial and operational aspects of projects meet required quality standards.
- Identify potential financial and operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Periodically review and refine policies to align with industry best practices and organizational needs.
5. Stakeholder Collaboration and Guidance
- Provide mentorship and guidance to project managers and coordinators, building their financial and operational expertise.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among team members, clients, vendors, and senior management.
- Provide advisory support to the leadership team on project performance, risks, and resourcing needs.
6. Knowledge Management and Process Improvement
- Create and maintain robust documentation aligned with best practices, including project plans, financial reports, and policies.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve project operations, financial processes, and efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
Certifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), ACCA, CFA, or similar designations are required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, focusing on consulting firms or professional services.
- Proven track record in project financial management, including budgeting, monitoring, and profitability analysis.
- Experience in managing complex projects across multiple geographies is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience in financial modeling and analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in financial tools and data analytics, including spreadsheets.
- Exceptional project planning, budgeting, and monitoring skills in consulting environments.
- Strong leadership abilities with experience in managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Industry Knowledge:
- Familiarity with consulting, impact investing, innovation ecosystems, or development finance is advantageous.
Anticipated Start Date: March 2025
Preferred location: Nairobi, Kenya
