Livelihoods and Microenterprise

Over the past year, BFA Global, has been supporting the Livelihood Impact Fund (LIF) Entrepreneurship Initiative to work with public and private sector partners across Kenya to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to grow, increase productivity, and create jobs. Our approach complements access to finance by working alongside business support organisations to elp SMEs strengthen their operations, expand demand for their products and services, and improve their readiness to access finance.

We are now inviting financial institutions interested in growing their SME lending portfolios through an initial pipeline of over 300 growth-oriented SMEs with demonstrated commercial activity and identifiable financing needs. These businesses have been identified, assessed and strengthened through programmes implemented by LIF’s partners, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and the African Management Institute (AMI). This initial pipeline is intended to establish financing relationships that can continue to grow as additional SMEs enter the Entrepreneurship Initiative through existing and future ecosystem partners.

We are seeking one or more financial institutions interested in expanding commercially sustainable SME lending to this portfolio of assessed and business-supported SMEs. Where appropriate, the Livelihood Impact Fund is also open to exploring catalytic financing approaches that help address practical barriers to serving this segment sustainably and at scale.

Expressions of Interest close on 27 July 2026.
