From December 2017 to March 2018, BFA Global supported the efforts of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to promote an enabling regulatory framework for electronic money (e-money) issuance in Nigeria, producing a deck covering a wide variety of topics related to e-money regulation and supervision. Following this engagement, BMGF expressed interest in converting this Nigeria-specific PowerPoint deck into a generic document that could be used globally. The revised framework edits current topics, as well as adds additional ones. To complete this assignment, BFA relied primarily on desk research, supplementing with interviews with key informants as required. BFA Global delivered a revised PowerPoint deck to provide a comprehensive analysis of the e-money regulatory environment on a global scale, paving the way to better access for low-income customers.
