BFA Global designed and coordinated a nation-wide study to determine if there was sufficient demand for mobile money interoperability. The research involved a household survey administered to mobile money users, an agent survey administered to mobile money agents that deal directly with customers, and focus group discussions and focus group discussions with particular groups of interest that emerge from the quantitative research. We explored further the trends that emerged from the quantitative investigation. The study ultimately informed FSD Kenya’s initiative of identifying non-bank infrastructure sharing opportunities that would result in industry-wide gains and increased financial inclusion for Kenyans.
