Powered by People is a B2B platform that empowers independent, diverse makers and brands by providing access to international and high-paying local markets. They make it easy for buyers to source unique, responsibly made products, playing a crucial role in small-scale artisans’ economic empowerment and growth.

During the nano stage, Powered by People focused on integrating generative AI to streamline the process of creating digital profiles for artisans. The project used AI to enhance product photos and create compelling descriptions, tested with export buyers. While the AI tools improved efficiency, the study found that buyers require more detailed and rich content, including additional images, narratives, and specific product information. The findings suggest that while AI can assist in the process, further inputs are needed to fully meet the standards required for export markets, offering valuable insights for future developments.

 The pilot will focus on improving the makers’ onboarding and digital catalog creation process, utilizing user research to enhance the experience and increase sales opportunities, ultimately supporting income generation for the makers.
