20 years of impact: What we’ve learned by doing—and what we’re doing next
For more than two decades, BFA Global has worked at the intersection of finance, technology, and innovation to expand opportunity in emerging markets. Our approach focuses on understanding how people actually live, testing solutions in the real world, and adapting based on evidence. The work began with financial inclusion and has expanded to focus on financial health, resilient livelihoods, and climate-ready economies that support individuals, businesses, and communities.
Over the past decade, our work has reached 22 million people across 107 countries, delivering 600+ projects with more than 70 partners and clients. Our programs support financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and innovators working to improve economic opportunity. This work has contributed to 5.1 million savings accounts opened, 218,000 micro and small enterprises supported, and 250+ startups supported that have raised more than $1 billion in funding. Across our portfolio, 48% of people reached are women, reflecting our commitment to inclusive growth.
Today, BFA Global focuses on practical solutions to major challenges shaping emerging markets, including inclusive finance, livelihoods and job creation, climate resilience, and inclusive AI. We combine advisory services, venture building, and investment expertise to help partners design and scale solutions that strengthen systems and expand opportunity.
